Washington, D.C. (February 15, 2024) – The National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) will welcome Grammy award-winning musician, Mark Tremonti, back to its Annual Gala & Auction for a special performance of Tremonti Sings Sinatra on March 7, 2024 at Gotham Hall in New York City. The performance will include original members of Frank Sinatra’s band and will feature two guest singers with Down syndrome: Mia Rodriguez, a young advocate and performer from Pennsylvania, and Nate Simon of Illinois, a model, actor, and CEO of the company 21 Pineapples.
The performance of the Billboard #1 jazz album will cap off the event honoring trailblazer and Life Goes On actor, Chris Burke, and 18 other actors who have expanded representation of the Down syndrome community in film and television including Sofia Sanchez, Lauren Potter, Jamie Brewer, and more.
“It is an honor to have Mark back on stage at our Annual Gala & Auction as we celebrate Chris Burke and other actors who have shaped public perceptions through their roles in film and television,” says NDSS President & CEO Kandi Pickard. “Over the past three years our partnership with Mark, his family, and his charity, Take a Chance for Charity, has made a profound difference for the Down syndrome community. The lasting impact of our partnership reflects the positive change we strive for.”
Mark is well known for his bands Creed, Alter Bridge, and Tremonti. Accompanied by members of Frank Sinatra's band, as well as other top musicians, Mark released 14 Sinatra classics including “Fly Me To The Moon,” “My Way,” and “That’s Life” in May 2022 with all proceeds benefiting NDSS in honor of Mark’s daughter, Stella, who has Down syndrome. In November of 2023, the Tremonti Family, in partnership with Advent Health, opened The SMILE with Stella Tremonti Down Syndrome Clinic in Orlando, Florida. He and his family were honored for their commitment to the Down syndrome community at the NDSS Annual Gala & Auction in 2023.
“I’m so excited to perform at the NDSS Gala again,” Mark says. “Their mission is so important to my heart and to my family. I’m grateful for every opportunity to come together to champion individuals with Down syndrome and their families.”
As part of the event, an online auction will be open to the public with a variety of items, including sports and entertainment memorabilia, experiences, travel, and more. All proceeds from the event, auction, and concert will support National Down Syndrome Society programs focused on advocacy and public policy, education, employment, and health.
