Assembly Bill 259 was introduced on March 7th by Assemblywoman Tracy Brown-May. This bill will eliminate the practice of paying workers with disabilities less than minimum wage in the state of Nevada. Phasing out subminimum wage will help pave the way for equality in the workplace for people with Down syndrome and other disabilities, many of whom work in settings that fail to prepare them for integrated employment in the mainstream economy. This will give people with disabilities access to work and training environments where they can acquire meaningful skills and better employment opportunities.
