On August 3rd, the United States Senate Committee on Finance held a hearing titled “A System in Need of Repair: Addressing Organizational Failures of the U.S.’s Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network” which can be viewed here. Consistent with the belief that individuals with Down syndrome and other disabilities should have access to a healthcare system free from discrimination, NDSS submitted a statement for the record addressing the issue of organ transplant discrimination against people with disabilities.
